Coaching is a partnering relationship between a coach and a client in a thought-provoking and creative
process that inspires the client to maximize their potential. When we focus on your overall life goals, we call this life coaching. It is based on mutual respect, trust and authenticity.
What is career transition coaching?
When there is a gap between what you are doing and what you long to do, you typically feel low satisfaction with how you spend your time and energy. Career transition coaching helps you reconnect with the dream you have for your life and from there, gain clarity on what you could and can do to craft a life that balances your need to make a living with your need to make a meaningful contribution to the world, based on your unique skills, experiences and aptitudes.
How does coaching work?
Coaching is a partnership between a coach and a client, with the sole intent to help the client act on their true desires, face barriers on the path to fulfillment and learn to embrace the uncertainty that comes with claiming your life. It works by a process of regular and ongoing coaching conversations in which the coach collaborates with the client to explore, make choices and act in the service of the client's goals and desires.
How is coaching different from consulting or counseling?
In a consulting relationship, you are retaining a consultant to give you the answers, advice and roadmaps that lead you to to a desired outcome. Coaching, on the other hand, is about exploring the nuances of who you are and working together to take action to get, have, be or feel what you want.
Counseling or psychotherapy is about emotional healing, and often is grounded in an exploration of family dynamics. Coaching focuses on the here and now, on the person you are and want to become.
How long does someone work with a coach?
As a customized and personalized process, coaching is designed to meet your needs. You may get the clarity and impetus to make changes in your life in three to five one-hour sessions, or you may want to incorporate coaching into your ongoing lifestyle, crafting the life you want as new opportunities and challenges arise. Typically, clients contract for three to five initial sessions, and we recontract as needed to meet your needs. You also have the option of being coached for half-hour sessions if that best fits your schedule.
How much does it cost?
A five-hour telephone coaching package, including a one- to two-hour discovery session, three (to four) hours of coaching and two assessments starts at $625. Face-to-face sessions in a venue of your choice (in the Toronto area) start at $750 for five hours.
